CWA Local 3640 Membership Meeting
June 9, 2009
Call to order: 12:10 pm.
Pledge of Allegiance
Chairperson: President Vonda Hardy
E-Board members in attendance: Vickey Hoots, Darla Meyer, Lori Manuel, Jerry Lindsay, Paul Lindner, Robin Powell and Derrick Hicks.
Minutes of the May 12, 2009 Executive Board meeting was read by Darla. Susan
Clifton asked about Colonial Life rates. Vonda advised we would address that in today’s meeting.
Susan Clifton made the motion to accept the minutes as read. Derrick Hicks seconded the motion.
Motion carried: 14 for, 0 against.
Minutes of the May 12, 2009 Membership meeting was read by Darla. No discussion followed. Robin Powell made the motion to accept the minutes as read. Derrick Hicks seconded the motion.
Motion carried: 14 for 0 against.
Financial report was distributed by Darla. Paula Kelsey asked why the meetings were now being held at the Local instead of a hotel. Darla advised it was a cost saving measure for the Local. Derrick Hicks made the motion to accept the financial report. Robin Powell seconded the motion.

Committee Reports: Legislative committee: Craig Leake read report of the last legislative meeting held on June 6, 2009. The next meeting is on July 11th.
Health & Safety: Vonda and Vickey attended a meeting with Debi Jones on June 8th. Discussion took place on Air Quality tests, offensive smells in the office due to the construction, and concrete slab being poured around the smoking area of the building. Debi Jones went over what was left on the renovations during the meeting. Vonda and Vickey asked the company to consider having a scent free area on each floor. Debi Jones said she could recommend it however they could not enforce it.
Joyce McAdams asked if the company was putting in the correct ceiling tiles in the entire building. Vonda said she would contact Debi Jones and find out. Jerry Lindsay said there were mosquito’s on the first floor in the groups department.
Unfinished Business: Vonda handed out the actual DOT regulations to the members attending meeting. Discussion followed about agents starting to go into levels for the DOT compliance on their CMR’s.
Vonda brought up the upcoming Legislative conference in DCA in hopes to send Rich Dennis. Craig Leake advised he was unable to attend due to family in town.
The CWA National Convention in DCA would be attended by Vonda, Vickey and Darla.
Vonda discussed the recent mistakes on the last bid. Several of the agents forgot to check the electronic signature page. PHX also had agents mess up their bid as well. Upon discussion with the company it was not enough agents overall to have a re-bid. Suggestion was made for agents to take advantage of the reschedule book if they wanted to try for a different shift.
Vickie Sheffey suggested that the company allow agents to print a copy of their bid.
Vonda discussed the meeting in CLT with Colonial Life. They have offered to come to the Local to discuss rates for any members that are interested.
Good & Welfare:Vonda advised us that Tracy Binkley’s mother
passed away that morning.

Susan Clifton asked about AT&T and how often they get monitored.
Vonda spoke with the AT&T President of the Charlotte Local. She said
they were also getting monitored on a monthly basis.
Derrick Hicks made the motion to adjourn meeting. Paula Kelsey
seconded the motion.
