CWA Local 3640 Membership Meeting
May 12, 2009
Call to order: 6:08 pm.
Pledge of Allegiance
Chairperson: President Vonda Hardy
E-Board members in attendance: Vickey Hoots, Darla Meyer, Lori Manuel, Jerry Lindsay, Paul Lindner, Robin Powell and Derrick Hicks.
Darla read the minutes of the April 12, 2009 E-Board meeting. Motion by Pat Steward to accept the minutes with correction of moral to morale. Second by Robin Powell.
Motion carried: 9 for, 0 against.
Darla read the minutes of the April 12, 2009 Membership meeting.
Motion to accept the minutes as read by Jerry Lindsay. Second by Pat Stewart.
Motion carried: 9 for, 0 against.
Financial report reviewed by Darla Meyer. Derrick Hicks motioned to accept the financial report with second by Edith Burke.
Motion carried: 10 for, 0 against.
Vonda talked about meeting in CLT with Colonial Life Company.
Committee Reports: Women’s committee: Vonda discussed meeting held in April.
Legislative committee: Vonda read Rich Dennis’s report from May 2nd meeting.
Unfinished Business: In reference to safety issues regarding the space and quads on the 1st floor. Vonda called the hospital emergency room and spoke to the EMT coordinator. They stated that very few businesses have ample room between cubicles and or offices for emergency equipment. Vonda called rescue squad and they agreed with the EMT coordinator.
The E-Board met with a member of management to discuss compliance issues. It was stated from management that if you are legitimately stuck on a call at your scheduled break time and you take your break immediately following that call your compliance will never be addressed.
New Business: Vonda mentioned the upcoming Legislative conference advising that if possible Craig Leake and Rich Dennis will be attending. Discussion followed about financial issues and the costs involving the two of them attending. The room rates at the hotel where conference is being held are $179.00 per night.
Pat Steward motioned to send Rich and Craig to Legislative conference providing the Local can find a reasonable hotel room. Edith Burke seconded the motion.
Motion carried: 8 for, 0 against.
Discussion on DOT requirements and how agents are already getting zeros on their CMR’s.
Vonda discussed compliance and members with ADA issues.
Good and Welfare: Karen Miller, Michael Johnson and Ciekda Vance
have all lost family members over the last month.
